Since 5 Decades the Voluntary Health Association of India (VHAI) has been undertaking NCD (Non-Communcable Disease) health program with the aid of stakeholders to help implement and promote sensitization effectiveness in debarring such complicate cases in family.
Be it family or community level, VHAI has taken adequate initiative to aware people on high risk sectors that provokes NCD threat like malnutrition, high blood pressure, tobacco and dietary risks. Assam marks highest in NCD threat from tobacco as GAT-2 (Global Adult Tobacco Survey) report from 2009-2017 reflects its growth of 48.2 % from previous 39.3% rate in the state.
Arogya project under VHAI which has been launched in the state is to strengthen Assam government’s healthcare initiatives of such category disease. Since currently NCD has taken a serious turn in the state to 52.1% growth that need to be controlled before it spreads further. The main objective of Arogya project launch in Assam is to bring awareness on NCD threat on society through screening test of highly affected ones, frequent sensitizing awareness in public places and communities and provide right guidance to diagnosis and treatment centers to fight back against NCD properly.
