Another five years from now Meghalaya is planning to set the biggest mushroom production strategy with a Japanese company to garner greater economic benefits without much loss as the state has the ability to provide highest quality products in this lane of agro farming.
Meghalaya or any Northeast mushroom destination can be a great economic venture for east Asian countries as it cut cost air transportation expenses. According to the state’s Agriculture Minister, Banteidor Lyngdoh the soil of Meghalaya has the capacity to reach 1000 metric tonnes of most demanding mushroom production known as Shiitake after five years.
If the Meghalaya farmers are made aware and trained to take this biggest opportunity to leverage Shiitake mushroom then within three to five years from now would help to boost mushroom market in the state as it fetches best price in international food market domain.
Japan’s Vats Corporation Co Ltd confirms benefits to the local framers of Meghalaya since the company is to buy the major output of Shiitake mushroom from them as it has high demand in food and hotel industries worldwide.
