Under the worldwide concept of
April Fool celebration on 1st April where people take to fake vs
news to take this day’s boon to enjoy to the brim for fooling with a courtesy
line “April Fool” as excuse was not taken easily by the Assam Tribune daily news
lead publication of Guwahati when it was morphed for its purpose.
Be it on Whatsapp or any social
media lead sites the Assam Tribune's 1st April edition as claimed by
the newspaper agent had violated rules by morphing the main front page of the
paper with display of old picture of the former Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi with
Prime Minister Narendra Modi with fake tag line below the image stating that the party has joined
the BJP.
Morphing newspaper and depriving
of its credibility with forward of fake news in the highest circulation of
social media is a crime according to Assam Tribune and filed complain under the sections 120 (b), 468, 471, 420 and 204 of IPC (192/19) of constitutional law.
As per to the newspaper's
management the guilty for morphing the page was asked to be booked under
(192/19) case for affecting the newspaper’s credibility where the senior police
officials had also approved of the charges and resolved to take strict action against such similar act that threatens various
sections of the IT Act including other laws.
