Possible
increase of illegal influx in various states of Northeast are high on alert especially
Meghalaya and Mizoram are in full swing action due to penetration of left out people
from Assam NRC draft in the attempt to secure shelter from further probe.
Assam’s
Cachar district and Mizoram’s Kolasib district have detected increase inflow of
foreigners due to which 200 volunteers came into action to control further infiltration
at state’s border check points. Mizoram’s potent NGO groups and student bodies
have intensified inspection for both Inner Line Permit (ILP) and NRC documents
to tap illegal migrant inflow at border check points of the state.
Full swing
operation of immigrant inflow from various parts of the nation had started before
the declaration of Assam NRC second draft in Mizoram and Meghalaya, estimating
possible threat. According to Assam Cachar’s SP Rakesh Roushan it is mandatory
for the outsiders of the state to produce special permit due to the existence
of ILP system. Even KSU ( Khasi Students
Union), Meghalaya are into the same swift action to interrupt outsiders from penetration
into their state without proper produce of documents.
YMA a 1935
formed non-political voluntary body of Mizoram which has 3 lakhs manpower in
its widespread registered 800 network centers in and outside the state,
estimates danger from influx growth in the region. Danger of illegal immigration
in the state is high according to YMA as it is distanced 510 kms from Maynmmar
and 318 kms from Bangladesh which are the prime sources for illegal immigrant
infiltration. Mizoram is basically a
Christian dominated place where fear of communal conflict looms from the outnumber
of varied religious background foreign population.
According to Mizoram’s DIPR (Directorate
Information and Public Relations) official the dominant NGO group Young Mizo
Association (YMA) has initiated talks and demanded NRC implementation to the state
government to take control of the illegal influx in the state at the Raj
Bhavan.
Check gates of
Bairabi, Saiphai and Vairengte of Mizoram districts’ are on high alert as MZP
(Mizo Zirllai Pawl) body has detected 200 plus refugees and asked them to
return back from the state recently. The ILP drive launched on August 17 in
Mizoram is highly active to keep illegal inflow in control as it has multiple easy
access for foreigner infiltration.
Currently
this drive has been intensified by various groups of Mizoram due to possible
trigger of illegal immigrants in the state. Including these states other NE states
are in the pipeline to implement extensive vigilance measures at their border
points if the government does not assure strict measures.
