Northeast ‘Digital India Mission’ Possible When Hackers Are On The Edge To Bring Global Economy To Standstill?

Hacking spree in the world is on intense, bringing government to public sectors’ system operation to a standstill where at this time Prime Minister Modi’s ‘Digital India Mission’ to digitalize Northeast for greater role in nation’s global economic drive has to first emphasize on cyber crime control.

Assam Government on to Modi’s ‘Digital March’ has initiated to empower its police units with modern infrastructures to support hi-tech devices for swift operation against cyber crime including quick online legal action.

Assam’s economic core centres like Tinsukia, Charaideo, Baksa, Udalguri, Biswanath and Sonitpur are planned to be boosted with hi-tech security systems with set up of modern police stations. But till the time when modern police stations are positioned in respective districts are various government to private sectors safe from ongoing severe cyber attack due to ransomware and wanna cry groups of malicious hackers?

Information and Technology Act analysed drastic jump of crime through digital medium in the state. Comparatively Assam is far behind against integrated combat against cyber crime.

Current Moitryee project of Assam Police was granted with Rs 20 crore from proposed Rs 91.53 crore funding. But this funding is on all over all police station modernization including digital training to police units plus modern supplement of arms and vehicles. At present virtual attack is peaking up fast all over the world, forcing many Indian companies to government offices to come to a standstill by deactivating their main server by hacking major files for a ransom deal.

IIT Guwahati institute has come out with their ‘bug bounty’ program to secure office employees to business men from hacker’s intrusion. This solution even other similar ethical hacking educational institutes of Assam can provide but then why their influence is overshadowed and not utilized for digital safety of the state?

New Delhi based Appin International institute’s Guwahati extension feels that there is a communication gap between the recent victims of ransomware and wanna cry as they are not aware about ethical hacking benefit and fails to approach ethical hackers at this crucial combat against cyber crime.

Hacking is still a taboo in the society as common people are not aware about its defensive technique against malicious hackers. Even Indian defense group need to implement ethical hacking to track ant-social online activists or hackers to safeguard sensitive national data that are secured in systems.

Every Indian is digitally wired to banks where illiterates connecting to banking system are the soft target to hackers. Even literate without hacking inclination are prone to hacking and can go numb if their digital work process is brought to a standstill. Today there is an emergency for an integrated move from the government to combat such paralytic phase which the world is facing by co-operating with ethical hackers and the security system of the state to visualize solution for smooth ‘Digital India Mission.’

Recently Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal emphasized at the launch of two-day conference of DGPs on better IT usage by state’s security unit as insurgents are already trending on it to cast their superior influence against the defense system.

According to many computer security institutes it is through education, mass digital training workshop and frequent training programs on secure online process can only make ‘Digital India Mission’ successful when the entire world is challenged, the matter of cyber attack should not be sidelined lightly in Northeast.
