It is years
long dedication by Sumi Baptist Church to conduct services at different spectrum, religious sanctum for connectivity with God through spread of wisdom
and educational sanctum to spread knowledge to children for a bright future.
Sumi Baptist
Church of Kohima capital in Nagaland had vigorously initiated Mount Olive
College project after its establishment at Daklane, Nagaland. This external
facility of college sanctum for educating higher student was provisioned solely
on its finance.
Under tedious
effort of Sumi Baptist Church the college became permanently affiliated with Nagaland
University in 2005. Shiwoto Wotsa, convener of building construction committee
revealed that the total cost of the new education structure came across to 4
corers and 37 lakh where UGC contributed additional cost of 2 corers.
Inauguration of
the college was marked with offer of prayers which was graced by Dr. Hoketo
Chophi. Praising this social welfare act of education Y Kikheto Sema,
Commissioner and Secretary welcomed such more participation by the church with
joint effort with the public.
Dr. Hokheto
Chophi, Pastor of Sumi Baptist Church who had sowed such good seed for brighter
future of the Naga community should be encouraged by the public and the social
activists of the society according to Sema, the chairman of Board of Deacons,
SBCK.
According to
Sema, efforts should be put forward by the students as well by valuing college
time including the ‘be all’ factor for education infrastructure to secure one
goal.
