More than 83,000 people of Manipur received benefits with free hospitalization aid of Rs. 2 Lakh under the four year old State health scheme known as Chief Ministergi Hakshelgi Tengbang (or Chief Minister’s health assistance – CMHT) which amount has been further upgraded to Rs. 5 Lakh as announced by the Chief Minister N Biren Singh.
Health card availed with cashless treatment upto Rs. 2 Lakh per family per year for seven critical illness have been provided to eligible households. In a blow to Bharat Biotech who produced Covaxin drug against corona the World Health Organisation (WHO) confirms suspension of the product sold through UN procurement agencies.
This decision by WHO is in response to the outcomes of its post Emergency Use Authorisation (EUL) inspection that was held between 14th and 22nd March, 2022. According to WHO there is requirement for facility upgrade to address recently identified GMP (good manufacturing practice) deficiencies but still Covaxin is stated to be effective and no safety tension exist.
