Casualty to lives and property could have been averted to an extend if safety norms had been observed due to which seven Inland Water Transport (IWT) employees of Nimatighat were arrested for further query and their statements will be recorded for further investigation.
Additional four more persons picked up in this mishap connection was Ma Kamala’s boat owner, boat controller, boat driver and the boat collector as they did not follow the procedures according to Jorhat Supertintendent of Police Ankur Jain and registered a case under Section 304 read with Section 34 under Indian Penal Court. Estimated figure of missing and death in such mishap case could not be figured if there are travelers beyond the listed names.
