Already many parts of Assam had been submerged due to river inundation lead by heavy downpour that is to remain another two to three days or a week as warned by the IMD (Indian Metrological Department).
Assam comparatively from past years has received less rainfall with21% less this monsoon with 877.7 mm rainfall from 1st June to 22nd August in comparison to normal seasonal rainfall of about 1,110 mm.
Dhemaji district of upper Assam has been hit severely by flood recently due to overflow of Jiyadhal river that caused the river to change its course and eventually submerging nine villages. Late monsoon downpour is not taking the name of ceasing due to which even the National Highways were submerged. Many districts of Assam have come under the wrap of flood as weather condition remains to be gloomy and rainy for more days to come.
