Softer in sense to humanize the concept of ‘detention centres’ with ‘transit camps’ as announced by the Assam government.
Nomenclature of Detention centre changing to Transit Camp term as issued by the Home and Political Department will be followed in centres like Kokrajhar, Goalpara, Dibrugarh, Jorhat, Tezpur and Silchar.
According to Congress leader Bobbeeta Sharma such soft tone won’t work as BJP has not made the legal ramifications of the change and enquired the stay period of the detainee.
Under this new humane and soft approach the government will detain non-Muslim illegal immigrants from Bangladesh, Afghanistan and Pakistan up to December 31, 2014 will be given preferential citizenship under the Citizenship (Amendment) Act after the enquiry process is done.
