Tripura The Next Mega Power Destination Of NE, India!


The reason simply because it is dedicated towards innovative approach in power generation and has edged far higher than any Northeast states to extend its hand for power tie-up with country out of national border in Nepal destination as it is in close proximity to NE region.


Evacuation of power from Tripura plant is made from Palatana power base to Bongaigaon, Assam through special purpose vehicle to Nepal. In addition Tripura is a potential power provider to neighboring country Bangladesh since many years back with present generation of 190MW with recent addition of 40 MW exportation to Nepal this year April according to the state’s Power Minister and Deputy Chief Minister Jishnu Devvarman.


It is under ONGC Tripura Power Company power exportation of 726 MW has been introduced though Palatana Gas thermal power plant source under North East States sharing agreements.


Tripura is growing in power production with 115 MW exempt from its Rukhia Gas Thermal Power Plants, Gomati hydro-electric power plant and Baramura Thermal Power plants (two thermal power projects under NEEPCO).

Tripura is into surplus power trading with various regions to further boost State Power Corporation’s economy being the largest revenue provider.
