Jayanta Hazarika’s Composition "Luitar Boliyaa Baan" Still Rhythms To Present Flood

This year’s high intensity flood ravage and future threat from rivers of Assam was beautifully encrypted in Jayanta Hazarika’s composition ‘Luitar Boliyaa Baan Koloi Nu Dhapoli Maliso,” the younger brother of noted singer Bhupen Hazarika.

2000 near villages of Assam went submerged in this year’s flood while now the situation is improving as river water level receding slowly but has left 1000 plus villages under its clutch as flood areas are on slow recovery path.

This composition was made during 1977 flood affect period where the late singer Jayanta Hazarika had created a humanitarian force named as “Xuur Bahini” in Golaghat to cater to the needs of the affected people in flood by taking this team of singers on to the road to collect money by singing indepth songs connected to present issues through his lead song ‘Luitar Boliyaa Baan”.

Now who would have thought that in present this decades back old song still could trend today and create pulse in common people to donate for flood affected people. Zunita Deka states, “Seeing the present ravage by flood waters in Barpeta it breaks the heart when we hear to the rhythm of Jayanta Hazarika’s song “Luitor Boliya Baan Koloinu Dhapoli Maliso”. Since we still don’t know to what extend the water of our rivers to take into devastating form and snatch our land underneath which we dearly had built a house. We still need people who can mobilize people with their soulful music as united force to do something in reality for the crores affected by this year flood.”

Nitumoni Das states, “If we see anyone of Jayanta Hazarika’s personality then it is Zubeen Garg who has fought extensively and given his peace of mind to restore others lives who had been devastated completely by flood. I have personally had witnessed him working very hard for flood relief irrespective of his high profile status. Though we today don’t have any personalities like Bhupen Hazarika and Jayanta Hazarika to pave the way for the present genre to fight for people’s right and to stand up for social causes as they did during their time, we see a hope in Zubeen Da, the Assam idol for many genres to come.”
