Meghalaya Govt Set To Reach All The Parameters Of Food And Drugs Under FSSAI

In the aim to improve the quality of consumable products in the market for the safety and welfare of state’s people the Meghalaya is to ensure that there is no lapse in food and drugs testing laboratory equipments as the Centre has granted Rs 9.45 crore financial support to upgrade its standard of processing.

Centre's financial boost to the state in this mission is to empower the Meghalaya directorate of health services (research), Shillong to become a fully-equipped food and drugs testing laboratory by March 2020 with proper infrastructure set up and upgrade with latest hi-end testing equipment.

Year after this 1980s' version food and drug testing laboratory at the premises of Pasteur Institute is all set to get a new look with advantage in ease of greater burden to keep a tap on quality check of consumable products.

The Meghalaya Government estimates to modify the chemical section to ensure its full operation on the floor by September 2018 if equipments arrive on time. But before that there is a long process in selecting right vendors with sufficient figures as it is crucial plus import process of required equipments need to be ready so that no impediments occurs in reaching all the parameters under Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI).

If Meghalaya reaches the parameters of FSSAI with sufficient arrangement of manpower in various section of its modified version laboratory that is to be established then the state would not have to depend on Assam’s Guwahati division for the regulation of the entire process and would be liberal to take quick action in food and drugs quality check.
