Recently the Railway vigilance of Guwahati station has confiscated various valuable smuggled items in huge amounts where the latest highest recovery is cross border smuggled cigarette items worth near to crorer plus.
Additional to the list of smuggling items Guwahati GRPS in an inquiry on an abandoned trolley bag at the station’s No.1 platform detected 1200 grams of gold metal after a close inspection of its three wheels to their astonishment whereas in an another criminal connection had nabbed two youths for carrying extensive amount of money worth 540,000 US Dollars. These consecutive illegal processing by the underworld have stirred the public at large whether the state's popular railway transit has become a gateway for the smuggle world?
