Fermented Molasses And Methanol Toxic Liquor Threat Call Banned In Assam



Recent forensic report submission on the cause of the latest 165 deaths in Golaghat hooch tragedy was declared to be due to high toxic methanol content by the scientists whereas the region's local women body claims to be due to evident usage of illicit molasses that lead to innumerable tea plant laborer’s deaths.

Criminals of Golaghat hooch tragedy will be grilled under Juvenile Justice act as due to their illicit methanol and illicit molasses usage in country made deadly liquor have killed 37 children's parents and left them orphaned. 

According to Golaghat social activists the fermented  molasses which are used  to prepare the lowest quality liquor had previously killed many but in a mass it is for the first time and demands for its complete ban. 

Manufacturers of liquor from molasses have been banned from any productivity in the statewide along with chemical methanol based local liquor producers under Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal's direction.
