Being in the heart of Guwahati city finding desired fish at
better price during the festive occasion is rare where the Chief Minister Sarbanda
Sonowal as a welcome gesture of Uruka food fest before the march of new month Magh, initiated the grand Fish Festival to enjoy the moment with relish.
Magh Bihu celebration in the year initial is a traditional
event to welcome the warmth of sun with grand offering of sweets and ritual items by burning maji or behla ghor but before
that Assamese people in all class of groups gather for food fest known as 'Uruka' which is
region’s most incredible experience.
In this Assamese tradition of 'Uruka' the pre-cultural activity ahead of
Magh Month or Makar Sankaranti, grand food celebration is marked in huge gathering in outskirt of home to relish the warmth of burning fire and instant hot
food.
In city life people fails to observe such grand occasion due to lack of desired meat items at better price
but this time there is a twist to it with welcome of grand Fish Festival that
was marked recently by Assam’s Chief Minister Sarbanda Sonowal to provide fish variety in easy mode as Uruka special
.
It is in the assistance of fishery sector of Assam which is a
potential revenue provider to the state due to its demand of products in domestic and
international market has for the first exhibited varied fishes at better price
to draw in large figure of customers pertaining to Magh Bihu celebration at Brindaban Garden, Zoo
Road of Guwahati city.
The Assam Fisheries Development Corporation Limited in
combined effort with National Fisheries Development Board has conducted this
“Fish Festival” to draw in huge inquisitive fish buyers of the state by exhibiting variety of fish at a better price to leverage
