Karbi Hills Elephants To Break NRL Township Barrier

Possibility ensured with the National Green Tribunal (NGT) order to the Numaligarh Refinery Limited (NRL) to demolish the wall of their township for the passage of Karbi Hills elephants to Dhansri river.

The plot of NRL township and its golf course is enclosed with barbed wire, sealing the natural corridor of elephants coming from Karbi Hills to make passage for water to Dhansiri river. Immediately in reaction to NGT the NRL has pledged for a review petition. This case which has been filed by the Divisional Forest Officer (DFO) of Golaghat had added that the Deopahar Forest which is near to NRL township is a link for elephants to reach Dhansri water reservoir.
