Assam
the ‘Gateway of Northeast’ has made this grand move of foreign inter cultural
mix at one stop platform for its Jazz aficionados to relish international
flavor from top artists of Poland at the venue of Srimanta Sankardeva Kalashetra, Guwahati. Sri Sankar Prasad Kakoti Bora, Regional
Director, ICCR who already had handled more than thirty international shows
here at Guwahati, Assam expects this festival will be a great opportunity to
globalize Assamese culture. By making it a platform for northeast people to
exchange their culture and music views with live interaction with foreign
artists and evolve their musical perspective.
Before
Assam, ICCR first conducted International Jazz Festival in 2011 in Delhi
capital city of India and helped garner its popularity with wide scale of
Indian music lovers. The demands of international jazz bands have grown beyond
the metro cultural hub of India as its fever catching fast with Northeast music
lovers.
Elevating
and soothing music of Jazz was introduced in the music culture by the African
American community in the late 19th century. Thus the Jazz genre grew globally.
Here in India it’s been just five years of the international jazz festival but
the response had always remained to be overwhelming.
International
top musician’s Jazz flavor that is to catch the nerve of Northeast on 22nd
of September will be just the beginning of a never ending jazz saga. As in
Northeast there are ardent western music lovers and no doubt the Poland Jazz
troupe will soon soar the temperature here.
Today
major global cities’ participants love to delve Indian horizon as its crowds
has strong essence of Jazz music. Cultural ties have grown beyond region due to
steady and frequent positioning of such international music festivals and hope
to bond well with Northeast people with first launch of it in Assam. According
to Jitu Haloi of ICCR, Assam such music festivals are healthy way to bridge
cultural bond with varied communities of the world and in globalizing Assamese
culture.
