Can Fancy Bazaar facelift program hit badly the economy of
Guwahati city is a big question after government’s development work to enhance
the beauty of the core area of Assam proceeds? The protest from business oriented group who
had lived for decades in the Fancy Bazar is on full swing as they are
threatened by possible plot sabotage for magnificent project layout in the area
for Guwahati beautification.
People in Lakhs visits daily to Fancy Bazar and it has
become the responsibility of the authority to arrange systematic traffic to
ease vehicle movements on its concentrated roads with creation of a pleasing
environment with concern to bread butter earners of its place.
Current beautification project is to stretch from the
bustling Khubchand point to Alka Hotel point which includes traffic diversions
on various roads. This arbitrary decision of the development department of the
government has threatened the public of possible stall in business activities
and hindrance to free flowing vehicular movement in the overpopulated Fancy
Bazar commercial area.
