Handicraft is the Economic Backbone for Northeast Will Govt Intervene?

Northeast's economic backbone is handicraft sector as traditionally this is benefitting to millions in the region if Rajesh Kumar Jain the Export Promotion Council for Handicrafts (EPCH) Vice Chancellor's plea for Government aid is accepted then this trade  will flourish dynamically.

Moreover higher rate of unemployment in Northeastern states will be curbed and simultaneously giving economic boost to the region. According to Jain meeting the cost for the assigned handicraft works from abroad is quite expensive and to fulfill it financial support from government is required who added, "We need government support to comply those compliances."

Higher returns from handicraft industry could be estimated only with government intervention to assist, EPCH Vice Chairman highlighted, "Country's handicraft exports grew by 11 percent to USD 125.6 million in March and we need to boost the figures."

There are lots of potentialities of higher return from Handicraft products from major sectors like home textile, bamboo goods, lamp and lighting, house-ware, glassware, fashion jewelry and furniture according to Jain.
