Meghalaya Government Asked To Intervene In NEEPCO”s Shift

The reasons are not quite clear as to what made NEEPCO to decide shift of office base from Shillong to Guwahati the Meghalaya government was pressed to intervene in company’s decision as numerous employees’ future are at stake.

North eastern Electric Power Corporation limited that formed office on April 1976 in Shillong has partially shifted their base in Guwahati as the Chairman, Managing Director, functional directors and senior executives were operating from Assam since March 2020.

It will be hard for the Meghalaya government to pull the strings back of NEEPCO as the backbone of the office like corporate planning, corporate project monitoring, operation and maintenance including contract & procurement offices have been smoothly conducting from Guwahati base for more than a year. Except that human resources and finance departments are yet to shift.
