Centre Again On To A Stall Over Subansiri Hydro Project Sanction

Ill fated as it is the Subansiri Lower Hydro Electric Project has been receiving blows from decades where since December 2011 the Arunachal Pradesh government has been witnessing stall in its progress where the latest blow that it received when the National Green Tribunal (NGT) filed objection with an analytical environment insight to the Supreme Court.

The 2000-MW Subansiri Lower Hydro Electric Project of Arunachal Pradesh which gained a ray of hope this year when the Centre decided to complete the unfinished job along with another hydro project of Arunachal it received a severe setback when the Supreme Court consented over the National Green Tribunal (NGT) objections.

Currently the Centre's Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change after a review over the recommendations set by the NGT’s expert committee on the Subansiri Lower Hydro project’s possible environmental threat to the residents of the downstream Assam has initiated for new designs to avert futuristic risk. It is likely Subansiri project to gain in more eligible features to win Supreme Court’s confidence to assert sanction for its successful implementation in Arunachal Pradesh.
