Titanic Tragedy Hits Assam Soon After The Success Of 4 Days Combing Of The Drowned Five Member’s Vehicle

Assam’s second consecutive drowning case has shaken the people of the state with awe as they were yet to recover from Dikhow tragedy of five member’s accidental car plunge into the river where on the blessed day of the vehicle’s recovery after four days search operation things turned around sour for when in another case a ferry got capsized in Brahmaputra at 1 to 2 p.m.

It is not natural disaster but human fault in both the cases where victims were caught unaware about the unseen fatal trap. Haren Bora’s death case in Sivsagar district caused due to unawareness on fresh mud layers on Dikhow river’s embankment and secondly fault in signalling unlock to the electronic door lock system of Maruti Swift Dzire that capsized people to death once it fell into the water. Else situation would have been a different case.

Recent Titanic tragedy resemblance case of Guwahati mechanized boat or ‘ Bhoot Bhuti in local terms on the same day of vehicle recovery on 6th September, capsized in water due to engine fault and driver’s poor prompt action to avert the boat from striking the concrete structure under construction of Japan funded water supply project that lead to crack split of the water carrier’s front part  in two pieces. In this tremendous collision with a concrete surface by the ferry had  lead to complete drown of loaded valuable properties and people into the water. Moreover there was hardly any safety measure equipment installed in the boat due to which accounted greater human causalities.

If the situation would have been on the other side of North Guwahati that is near to city port then the rescue operation would have been more swift and minimal causalities to lives. Before NDRF and SDRF rescue team arrived to the site the boat was almost in sinking condition as it took half an hour time for them (National and State Disaster Resource Force) to reach the spot. Since the mechanized boat’s capsize incident in swelling Brahmaputra occurred at the other end of the main Guawahti city center that is Aswakranta in North Guwahati.

In this similar Titanic tragedy of Guwahati ferry two female students of Cotton College and one male succumbed to the situation where 27 accounted to be missing are estimated to be dead after today’s search operation by NDRF team. According to Kamal Kumar Baishya the Kamrup Deputy Commissioner the boat reported to have 22 passengers on board wheras unofficially accounted 30 plus passengers with additional loaded goods. Currently the mechanized boat or bhoot bhuti’s  transportation from  Guwahati main city to North Guwahati has been put on hold till the rainy season is over and danger of swelling Brahmaputra is over.

Accounting previous such fatal capsize incidents in Brahmaputra the public has  strongly demanded a regulatory body to keep track on boat’s condition, capacity excess goods limit, weather conditions and safety measures before allowing it to ply on water. If a boat capacity has 22 passenger and carries 40 breaking the norms of limit without additional measure safety equipments, unaware passengers on technical facts of the mechanized boat would lead to such fatal consequence as in recent case of 6th September.
