If Chief Minister Sonowal’s Embankment Project Had Been Speeded Up Then The Work Would Not Have Doubled




Chief minister Sarbananda Sonowal left no stone unturned where on to the ongoing embankments and erosion protection programs are concerned he had placed strict deadline with encouragement of additional Rs 483 crore release but to no avail and eventually had to approach for additional Rs. 113 crore and special package aid for further enhancement and control on devastating flood.

Recently Chief Minister Sonowal had to approach Union Finance Minister Arun  Jaitely to take a dig on  to Assam’s severe flood conditions with further funding for improved embankment process under the flood management programme.

Memorandum citing serious threat from flood related erosion and damages was highlighted at the parliament house recently by Sonowal to Jaitely. The special pack request to Prime Minister Modi by Sonowal was concentric to embankment strengthening process with coverage of state’s 5000kms network under the flood management scheme.


Sonowal was not able to expect the exact outcome from the implemented projects on embankments and erosion protection due to public intervene for compensation on land acquisition. Result more damages and erosion due to severe 2017 flood.
