Turning down the land allotment proposal for the extension of rail line in
Meghalaya for the influx fear, the Minister of State for Railways Rajen Gohain insisted
on the contrary that the state government should extend hands with Indian
Railway as a sign of region’s progress.
Meghalaya on the contrary to Gohain’s vision of progress had already sided
off two lucrative central projects worth Rs 300 crore 2016-2017 for advancing
regional networking from Byrnihat-Shillong and Tetelia-Byrnihat.
Addressing to a crowd at DigiDhan mela in Shillong, Gohain vehemently
marked that due to this negative approach from the government the development process
in the region has slowed far behind when there is Sixth Schedule to protect e
State’s influx fear. Economic growth through strong rail network, Gohain
finally in his speech stressed so that Meghalaya government stop to react
negatively towards Railway proposal and allow them to lay their projects.
