The wage berserk scenario in 900 tea gardens rocked Assam government as tea
communities of the state are strong voting support during election due to which
Chief Minister Sarbanada Sonowal had to finally intervene Prime Minister
Narender Modi’s office in New Delhi capital city of India.
Managing more than lakhs of tea workers in 900 plus tea gardens of Assam
became a major stress as the tea owners could not disperse required cash to the
commissioners as sudden decision of demonetisation of Rs 500 and Rs 1000 notes
became a gigantic impediments.
Even Prime Minister Modi scrutinizing into the matter sanctioned Sonowal to
make required step to ease the tension. According to the government official Assam Chief Minister Sonowal on 10th Nov made special arrangement for the
tea owners to draw as much cash required through their cheque made to the
commissioners to clear weekly dues of their workers.
This crisis could have been minimal if it is on monthly basis payments were
made but since every weekend cash inflow should be made so almost more than ten
lakh plus tea laborers were affected by demonetization step by PM Modi on 8th
Nov.
