“Param Vir Chakra” Northeast Heroes of Indian Army

Remembering Kargil War, 1999 between India and Pakistan many valiant soldiers from Manipur, Nagaland and Meghalaya sacrificed their lives that fetched them “Param Vir Chakra” the highest gallantry title in Indian Army. 


In respect to the gallant martyrs of Kargil War, the Army and Police officers gathered in respective states of Manipur, Nagaland and Meghalaya on 26th July to commemorate the valiant soldiers’ priceless sacrifice to secure India from border enemy’s threat.


The outstanding performance shown at the highly challenging glacier point, several feet above the sea level during Kargil War by the five gallant Manipuri martyrs, undeniably makes them worthy to be titled for “Param Vir Chakra.”


Five Manipuri gallant martyrs of Kargil battle like Ng Beningvir Moyon, Sepoy Kashuli Mao, Sepoy Chara Nicholas, LNK S Germinthang and Naik Kaleshwor including Meghalay’s Captain Keishing Clifford Nongrum and Nagaland’s Neikezhakuo Kenguruse had proved Northeast’s potency to deliver caliber cadets for India’s safeguard and lay for its honor. As a mark of respect to the ‘Param Vir Chakra’ titled martyr of Northeast, Lt Gen SP Nawathe paid homage at Rhino Heritage Museum, Shillong.
