Young Indian hockey hero of India cycled to create history in Northeast sport and shine Manipur’s name in entire world with thirty three prestigious titles along with latest Asian Games honor in his stride to boost the dreams of younger generation in this field of career.
Nilkantha Sharma’s golden hockey performance was scripted in Indian sports today because his passion has made him to cycle out all the odds against his dream to adapt this art even it means cycling 5 kms daily and getting up in the dark to reach for the limited session of 5-8.30 am at local turf ground for practice without special materials to hone the skills. Be it mud or any ground large ground, young Nilkantha during his schools never used to spare it and form a team to get into play mode, forgetting the rest world.
It was first in the hostel of hockey academy when he got the first experience to understand the nuance of this game with state-of the-art facilities to hone the skills, way back in 2011 at Bhopal in Madhya Pradesh under the Olympian MK Kaushik. Now after major clinch in Junior World Cup Hockey and Asian Championship trophy, Nilkanth has his eyes all set for World Cup Hockey to be staged in Bhubaneshwar, Orissa.
