In the necessity to control crime and speedy processing of criminal cases without hindrance the Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma stated it is important to adopt a policy of Zero Tolerance’ to external comments passed in cases handling by the police.
There will be ‘zero tolerance’ to politicians’ interference in police processing of criminal cases. Though the MLA is a lawmaker but he cannot pass his jurisdiction on the alleged criminals and dismissing the case proceedings handled by the police authority.
The police authority have their own statistics and laws to handle cases which only the upper authority like the court has the power to dismiss and put in effect to the cases after evaluation.
MLA as a justice holder can move the matter of encounter cases in the Assembly House if there is any suspicion but is not empowered to solve the cases.
